  • Rhode Island High School Highlights, Friday Feb. 20th - BOYS BASKETBALL •Jay Jeannotte scored Narragansett’s last six points, including a jumper off the glass with five seconds remaining, to help the Mariners come back from a four-point deficit and defeat Westerly, 68-67, in a Division II-South boys basketball game. Jeannotte finished with a team-high 23 points for the Mariners, who improved to 16-1. Andy Bookataub scored a game-high 29 points for the Bulldogs, who connected on 7-of-10 3-pointers in the first half and led, 38-30, at halftime. - Read full article from Providence Journal

  • Woonsocket beats Mount St. Charles in meeting of unbeaten girls hoops rivals - The Woonsocket girls basketball team sealed a win against town and Division II-North rival, Mount St. Charles, 43-38, in a game of undefeated teams before a packed house at Woonsocket High. With the score 38-38 and about 90 seconds remaining, Woonsocket’s Kofo Olowookere was fouled on a successful layup and made the ensuing free throw to give the her team a 41-38 lead. Woonsocket’s Brooke Coderre then sank two free throws with 17 seconds remaining to ice the win for the Villa Novans. Coderre finished with a game-high 16 points plus 4 steals and 2 blocked shots, while Olowookere finished with 7 points and 8 rebounds. Teammate Lauren Masse finished with 10 points and blocked two shots in the waning minutes to keep Mount St. Charles at bay. Maria Saia led Mount St. Charles with 11 points. Woonsocket improves to 9-0 in Division II and Mount St. Charles falls to 8-1 in the league. - Read full article from Providence Journal
  • Rhode Island HS Highlights for Saturday, Jan. 24th - The Narragansett boys basketball team remained undefeated with a 64-38 victory over West Warwick in Division II-South. The Mariners, who were led by Jay Jeannotte (15 points) and Austin Shepherd (12), improved to 13-0 overall and 8-0 in league play. The Mariners will play Tiverton on Tuesday night. The Tigers have three losses in II-South. •Jose Taymes scored 20 points, Raymond Monroe had 15 and Jean Perez added 11 to lead the Central boys basketball team to a 55-48 win over Exeter/West Greenwich. Joe Ferle finished with 24 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Scarlet Knights. EWG, which trailed, 32-21, at halftime, cut the deficit to one point (42-41) with five minutes left. However, the Knights made their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. Central sank 10 of 15 free throws in the second half. - Read full article from Providence Journal
