Team News

  • Alvirne's (NH) upset bid slips away late vs. Trinity - DURHAM – Alvirne High was on the verge of one of the biggest upsets in the history of Class L boys basketball. Midway through the third quarter, with a 13-point lead, the only question seemed to be would Saturday be a "Dog Day Afternoon.'' Led by Brennan Donnelly, Caleb Donnelly and huge crowd of barking supporters, 12th-seeded Alvirne was 12 minutes away from knocking off No. 1 seed Trinity of Manchester in the Class L semifinals. - Read full article from Nashua Telegraph
  • Alvirne's (NH) front court not lacking size - The 12th-seeded Alvirne boys basketball team is already being labeled the Cinderella story of this year's Class L Tournament. It's understandable. The Broncos are one of the best stories, statewide, of the entire winter. Just don't use the David vs. Goliath analogy when it comes to tonight's (7:30) semifinal against top-seeded Trinity at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. - Read full article from Nashua Telegraph
  • Trinity (NH) hopes speed beats bulk - DURHAM – It has the state's best record at 19-1. It has the state's best player in Jordan Laguerre. About the only thing Trinity High School of Manchester doesn't have going into tonight's 7:30 semifinal is nothing to lose. The Pioneers, who have lost in the finals to Salem the last two years, have everything to lose against a 12th-seeded Alvirne High School tonight at the University of New Hampshire's Lundholm Gym. - Read full article from Nashua Telegraph
  • Upsets make tourney time even better - If you’re in the prediction business when it comes to high school tournaments this month, get out now. Get out while you still can. It’s been that kind of tournament season. All you need to do is look at one of the Class L boys basketball quarterfinals scheduled for Saturday night. Number 12 seed Alvirne is hosting No. 13 Londonderry. Good grief, has that ever happened in L before? - Read full article from Nashua Telegraph
  • Salem girls knock off Alvirne - Alvirne's DJ Purcell scored a game-high 15 points but it wasn't enough as Alvirne (7-6) dropped a 47-42 contest to Salem (6-7). Ashley Metivier added 11 for the Broncos. - Read full article from Nashua Telegraph
  • Zajac, Bishop Guertin (NH) sink Alvirne - The evening was turning into a nightmare for the Bishop Guertin boys basketball team on Tuesday night, but senior captain Jamie Zajac knew he had the ball and 9.8 seconds left to send his teammates and coaches home with smiles on their faces. So Zajac took the inbounds pass under his own basket, dribbled down court between several defenders, pulled up at the top of the key and let it fly. - Read full article from Nashua Telegraph
