  • NFA Wins Class LL Girls Title - UNCASVILLE - Kastine Evans scored 24 points and Stephanie Long added 17 as top-seeded Norwich Free Academy defeated No. 2 Career-New Haven 63-42 Friday night to win the Class LL girls basketball championship at Mohegan Sun Arena. It was the first state title for NFA (24-2) since 2002 and sixth in 14 seasons. Career (22-5) led 6-2 but NFA took control, opening up a 28-13 halftime lead. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Career (CT) falls to NFA in state final - UNCASVILLE — Career girls’ basketball coach Kevin Walton knew there would be nights like this. Anisha Wilson couldn’t finish on drives to the basket, and her jump shot wasn’t falling. J’Voni Hilton missed putbacks. Collectively, Career couldn’t get into a groove offensively from anywhere on the floor. And unfortunately for the Panthers, it was their biggest game of the season. Career shot just 27 percent from the field and was denied its second straight state title as top-seeded Norwich Free Academy coasted to a 63-42 win over the No. 2 Panthers in the Class LL championship game Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena. - Read full article from New Haven Register
  • Hillhouse, Career (CT) share bond, goal - UNCASVILLE — The story lines that link the Career and Hillhouse girls’ basketball teams seem endless. Academics senior Dannisha Pierce is a cousin of Panthers senior Tonique Adkins, who is a teammate of Anisha Wilson. She is a cousin of Hillhouse teammates Bria Holmes and Andreana Thomas. Alongside Hillhouse players Kalinka DeRoche, Holmes and Thomas, Panthers sophomore Bria Moore helped lead the CT Lady Blazers to a second-place finish at the AAU National Tournament this past summer. They were coached by Hillhouse coach Catrina Hawley-Stewart. - Read full article from New Haven Register
  • Career-New Haven (CT) Beats Lauralton Hall-Milford In LL Semifinal - Anisha Wilson scored 30 points, hitting 10 of 17 free throws, as No. 2 Career-New Haven moved one step closer to defending its Class LL title with a 66-63 victory over No. 3 Lauralton Hall-Milford in the semifinals of the Class LL tournament Saturday at Central Connecticut State in New Britain. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Panthers (CT) growing up in a hurry - The Career boys’ basketball team already has a piece of the Southern Connecticut Conference Oronoque Division championship in hand. Tonight, the Panthers will try to take the title outright. The Panthers travel to East Haven for their final division game of the season. Win, and the title is theirs. Lose, and it is a three-way tie with East Haven and Wilbur Cross, the three-time defending champion. - Read full article from New Haven Register
  • A Career (CT) performance - With four sophomores in Thursday’s starting lineup, Career is one of the youngest boys’ basketball teams in the Southern Connecticut Conference. At times, the Panthers have performed like an inexperienced team. But the group has done plenty of good things as well, none more important than the fourth quarter against Wilbur Cross. - Read full article from New Haven Register
  • Branford (CT) upsets Career behind Goglia's 23 - James Goglia scored 23 points and added 12 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the Branford boys’ basketball team to a 67-57 upset of visiting Career Friday in a Southern Connecticut Conference Oronoque Division game. Casey Dadio scored 10 points and had eight assists for the Hornets (3-10, 1-5). Brandyn Benson scored 15 points and Kevin Hoff 12 for the Panthers (8-4, 4-2). - Read full article from New Haven Register
