  • Bloomfield's Jones shows his quarterback skills - I saw Denzell Jones play quite a bit of basketball last season for Bloomfield, which got all the way to the Class M title game. He's 6-5, can block shots and defend. His offensive game is not great, but he's still probably a Division I player. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Bloomfield (CT) Beats New Fairfield In Class M Semis - WATERBURY — - It began with 10 unanswered points and a slew of forced turnovers. By the end, Bloomfield was still pressing and running as if the game were in jeopardy. The truth is, it was never in doubt. Bloomfield played with relentless abandon from the moment the game began, and New Fairfield had no answer in the CIAC Class M semifinals Tuesday night at Wilby High School. - Read full article from Hartford Courant

  • Bloomfield beats Hartford Public (CT) - Bloomfield weathered a 15-foot jumper and a desperation three-point try in the final seconds to outlast Hartford Public 55-53 Tuesday night at the Field House. "I was praying they'd miss," Bloomfield coach Gary Barcher said. Good fortune was a Warhawks' teammate, as the shot from Hartford's Alvin Williams from the right corner with 2.8 seconds left and Frederick Wright's 30-footer at the horn both bounced off the rim. The result enabled Bloomfield (18-2, 8-2 CCC East) to tie the Owls (15-5, 8-2) for the division title in the regular season finale. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Bloomfield (CT) Boys Stop Glastonbury - For the first three quarters Friday, Bloomfield's renowned traps weren't effective as Glastonbury often moved smartly through them to take a four-point lead. So Bloomfield switched, primarily using an aggressive man-to-man. The result was a 69-62 victory in a CCC interdivision game. "We got after it, and I'm proud of how my team found another way to win," said coach Gary Barcher of Bloomfield (11-2), ranked ninth in The Courant's area ratings. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Courant (CT) Boys Basketball Rating - Windsor and Bloomfield had their first losses last week, and New Britain jumped over them to the top spot in The Courant area ratings. New Britain (8-1) posted victories over Glastonbury (65-57) and Manchester (58-45). Windsor (8-1), which had been No.1, lost to Bulkeley. Bloomfield (8-1), formerly No.2, lost to Rockville in overtime (70-67). - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Bloomfield Rolling Along - Gary Barcher is in his 23rd season as Bloomfield High School boys basketball coach. Bloomfield (9-1), No.5 in The Courant area ratings, won last year's Class S championship and the 2002 Class L title under Barcher. Q: What happened in the 70-67 overtime loss to Rockville Friday night? A: First of all, credit Rockville. We knew it would be a tough game, and that they were good. But we have to learn how to put teams away when we have a lead. We didn't do that. We need to make more shots and free throws, too [Bloomfield was 3 of 7 from the line in the final 4:44 of regulation]. I think we got rattled on the road. Hopefully, we'll learn from it and be a tougher, better team. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Rockville Stuns Bloomfield In Overtime - There have been other impressive victories in the history of Rockville basketball, but the 70-67 overtime decision against defending Class S champion Bloomfield Friday night was right up there. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
