  • Cranston East (RI) nips Central for 13th straight victory - The Cranston East boys basketball team ran its league unbeaten streak to 13 games, but it didn’t come easy. Kevin Cabrera made one of two free throws with three seconds remaining to force overtime, and Mike Juarez -- who led all scorers with 20 points -- made two free throws with 50 seconds remaining in overtime that put Cranston East ahead for good as the Bolt escaped with a 51-49 Division I-West victory over Central. - Read full article from Providence Journal

Brian Gautier and Robert Lewis each had 12 points for Central while Heard added 11.   • Rhode Island HS Highlights for Saturday, Jan. 24th - The Narragansett boys basketball team remained undefeated with a 64-38 victory over West Warwick in Division II-South. The Mariners, who were led by Jay Jeannotte (15 points) and Austin Shepherd (12), improved to 13-0 overall and 8-0 in league play. The Mariners will play Tiverton on Tuesday night. The Tigers have three losses in II-South. •Jose Taymes scored 20 points, Raymond Monroe had 15 and Jean Perez added 11 to lead the Central boys basketball team to a 55-48 win over Exeter/West Greenwich. Joe Ferle finished with 24 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Scarlet Knights. EWG, which trailed, 32-21, at halftime, cut the deficit to one point (42-41) with five minutes left. However, the Knights made their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. Central sank 10 of 15 free throws in the second half. - Read full article from Providence Journal
