- Girls teams (MA) turn ’08-09 into history - Three Dog Night struck it rich in 1969 with the smash hit “One,” featuring its famous refrain: “One is the loneliest number.” For four Eastern Mass. girls teams in the recently concluded 2008-09 season, one was the sweetest sound they’ve ever heard. Central Catholic, Notre Dame of Hingham, Swampscott and Millis each carted home the first girls basketball state titles in the history of their schools.
