  • Langston Scores 33 To Lead Kolbe (CT) - WINDSOR LOCKS — - Ronnie Underwood was ahead of the field late in the game but caught a glimpse of a sprinting Dominique Langston. Underwood lofted a lead pass that Langston grabbed with his right hand and dunked. Team play was the key in Kolbe Cathedral-Bridgeport's 81-54 Class S second-round victory over Windsor Locks Thursday night. "We're not going to be cutting any nets down if we're one-player dimensional or two," Kolbe coach C.J. Shamas said. "We spread the ball around." - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Hillhouse (CT) KO’s No. 1 Kolbe - EAST HAVEN — After knocking off second-seeded, and previously unbeaten, Kolbe Cathedral, who is also the No. 1 team in the Register Top 10 poll, Hillhouse coach Catrina Hawley-Stewart still wanted more. "Well, I can ask for more," Hawley-Stewart said, "I can ask for two more wins." That’s all the Academics will need to win their seventh state title, and first since 2005, after seventh-seeded Hillhouse earned a 75-68 victory over the Cougars in a heart-stopper Thursday in the Class L girls’ basketball tournament quarterfinals at East Haven High. - Read full article from New Haven Register
  • Kolbe ends Stratford's streak in SWC quarterfinals - At halftime, Kolbe Cathedral looked like a thoroughly defeated basketball team. By game's end, the Cougars had scripted yet another wild chapter to their storied rivalry with Stratford. Dominique Langston and Ronnie Underwood scored 26 points apiece as Kolbe Cathedral came back from 18 points down to topple the defending league champions in overtime, 82-81, in the SWC quarterfinals Saturday at Weston. The victory ended Stratford's school-record 34-game win streak and propelled Kolbe Cathedral into Tuesday's semifinals at Bunnell. Kolbe Cathedral (13-8) will face No. 4 Notre Dame-Fairfield. - Read full article from Connecticut Post
  • Stratford (CT) extends win streak to 32 - STRATFORD -- In his pre-game speech complimenting all of the seniors on this year's team, Stratford coach Paul Dudzinski called sixth-man Jacob Jean-Baptiste a great athlete who does all the little things asked of him. "He's the X-factor for us," Dudzinski said. Given a chance to start with the rest of his senior teammates in a huge Senior Night game against rival Kolbe Cathedral, Jean-Baptiste didn't play like an X-factor. - Read full article from Connecticut Post
  • Boys Basketball Round up - Connecticut Post - Jake Davies scored 20 points and Brendan Buckley, Casey McDermott and Brody Blozzon each added 16 to lead Masuk to a 78-62 upset over Kolbe Cathedral in an SWC game Friday night at the Shehan Center. • Kolbe-Cathedral (CT) blasts Notre Dame - Boys basketball plots don't twist tighter or crazier than Saturday night's proceedings at the Shehan Center. Kolbe Cathedral was a team down on its luck and winless at home about to play one of its biggest rivals. Its head coach was barred from the game after being ejected days before. Another assistant coach's wife was having a baby. - Read full article from Connecticut Post
  • Stratford picking up where they left off last year - As the defending Class M and SWC champion, Stratford has been playing this season with what coach Paul Dudzinski said "is a big 'X' on our back." So far, that hasn't stopped the Red Devils. Despite graduating eight seniors from last year's unexpected title run, Stratford remains unbeaten at 9-0. Its win streak is now a robust 22 straight dating back to an overtime loss to Barlow almost a year ago. Dudzinski is pleased, but still cautious as his team enters the meat of its SWC schedule. - Read full article from Connecticut Post
  • Langston cousins learned their lessons well - When it comes to basketball, Frank Langston's been around. Save for a handful of truly legendary players, the 56-year-old Bridgeport native has seen as much, played as much and accomplished as much and as anyone in this city. Langston was an all-state player at Stratford in the early 1970s. He played ball with Barry McLeod, Frank Oleynick and Walter Luckett up at Beardsley Terrace. He went to college, even played some semipro ball in St. Louis and Hartford. Later, he helped two of his sons, Frank Jr. and Greg, become standouts at Central and Stratford, respectively. - Read full article from Connecticut Post
