  • Berlin's (CT) Vazquez A Long-Range Threat - UNCASVILLE — - Alexys Vazquez is a very good shooter, both on and off the court. "It's incredible." So King doesn't worry that much when Vazquez, a junior guard, throws up a shot from far beyond the three-point line, as she is apt to do. She hit 70 threes this season, holds the school career record (164) and hit a school-record seven in a 67-20 rout of Montville in the second round of the Class M tournament. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • 'Red Sea' has made a splash - The CIAC girls and boys basketball tournaments end with championships next weekend. Along the way, we'll bring you slices of each. If you feel there is a unique story about your team, e-mail us at sports@courant.com. Berlin juniors Joey Cooper and Mike Campisi were in the front row of the Red Sea Saturday. Cooper had "Moses" written on the back of his shirt in marker. The Red Sea, which cheers for the Redcoats, refused to part for Ellington Saturday. Berlin won 54-41 in the Class M girls basketball semifinal game at Central Connecticut. Its members wear red shirts with "Red Sea" on the front. They go to both boys and girls games. There were maybe 40-50 girls and boys at Central. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
  • Northwest Defeats Berlin For Final NWC Title - PLAINVILLE — - Northwest Catholic girls basketball coach Karl Herbert watched as his team missed shot after shot in the first quarter. The Indians scored only six points, half of those on a three-pointer at the buzzer, but Herbert never lost his cool. He knew he had prepared his team for the stretch run. And when it counted, Northwest was money. - Read full article from Hartford Courant
