Eight minutes into Saturday night's Class L championship game, the Stratford boys basketball team appeared as if it had left its energy -- or at least its focus -- somewhere down I-95 near the Moses Wheeler Bridge.
The undefeated Red Devils were sloppy.
They couldn't hit a shot.
And making it all worse, the large and vocal New London student section took great pleasure in chanting "overrated" at each and every Stratford gaffe.
As miserable a first half as top-seeded Stratford played, it was equally as good in the second half, grinding past No. 2 New London to a hard-fought 51-47 victory in front of 8,422 at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
