It's a different kind of year for former Montville High standout Mike Gittens.

His goal is to get better in two distinctly different areas - the classroom and the basketball court - and for that, he's enlisted the help of Putnam Science Academy.

"It starts with being a good kid, that's why I bring them in," Putnam Science Academy coach Tom Espinosa said. "He understands where he came from and what he has to do to get to the next level."
