Sean Kearney, who spent the last 13 years as an assistant and associate coach at Notre Dame, lands the Holy Cross job. The 49-year old beat out Tom Herrion of University of Pittsburgh and Rod Baker, a Holy Cross alum, for the position. Kearney will not have an easy act to follow, as he will step into a void left by highly successful coach, Ralph Williard, who decided to become Pitino's top assistant at Louisville. The good thing is that Holy Cross brings back a lot of talent, and is favored by many to take home the Patriot League title again.
Kearney has done a great job in his tenure at Notre Dame, developing big men such as Luke Harangody, Troy Murphy, Ryan Humphrey and Torin Francis (Tabor Academy).
It was a crucial decision for Holy Cross to land someone before the pivotal month of July kicked into high gear. We'll look to see what else happens at the Cross over the next couple of weeks.
