Devon Williams adds more depth to Worcester Academy

Worcester Academy was ready to unleash one of the top backcourts in the NEPSAC this season, headlined by Rene Castro and the incoming Matt Mobley, but over the weekend, head coach Jamie Sullivan added Devon Williams, who will transfer in from Thayer Academy.

"I had the opportunity to work with coach Sullivan at one of the Hoop Mountain's Super Weeks," said Williams. "He liked the way I played and I liked the way he coached."

"I knew with Worcester's strong academics and basketball program that it would be the right place for me."

Williams, who spent the summer circuit with the Bay State Flash, got some extra encouragement from Mobley, who joined the Flash later in the summer.

"Matt and I were roommates down in Florida, so we talked about Worcester and he had nothing but good things to say about it."

The 6-foot-1 Williams will reclassify to the class of 2014 and get a chance to learn and play with Castro, holding interest from A-10 schools, as well as his AAU teammate Mobley, fresh off his first Division I offer.

"I think I'm going to learn a lot playing with them," said Williams. "They both have a great work ethic and know what it takes to get to the next level."
