Cane Broome lit up the scoreboard in this three seasons at East Hartford. As a junior, Broome was named to CHSCA First Team All-State. Broome scored his 1,000th point for the Hornets back in February, another accolade in a great career. Now it’s time for Broome to elevate his game, as he prepares to reclassify and join legendary Jere Quinn at St. Thomas More.
Broome is in the midst of transition to a point guard, which should help his overall game moving to the collegiate ranks. He is only 5-foot-11 and very thin as well. Moving to point guard should benefit him in the long run. Although he probably won’t be the prolific scorer he was at East Hartford, Broome can still shot, which is his biggest strength from a recruiting standpoint. He already has solid ball handling skills, so the adjustment shouldn’t be too difficult.
The New England Playaz guard is consistent with both catch-and-shoot and off the dribble, especially from long range. The strength is crucial and Broome is aware of that. He is playing higher level of competition and knows that night in and night out he’ll be up against bigger, stronger, high-Division I caliber guards.
