The Patriot League announced today that Boston University has accepted an invitation to join the league for the 2013-2014 season.
Along with basketball, BU will also join in other sports, such as cross country, track and field, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, as well as women's rowing and women's golf.
"Boston University is an outstanding addition to our membership as a private institution with a robust academic reputation and prolific athletic history," said Daniel H. Weiss, Chair of the Patriot League's Council of Presidents and President of Lafayette College. "This decision to add Boston University to the Patriot League mirrors the Presidents' commitment and vision to the stability and long-term positioning of the League."
Boston University will leave behind the American East where they qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2011. The Terriers finished 16-16 (12-4) in 2012.
BU will add guard Maurice Watson (Boy's Latin/Philadelphia, Penn.) and NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year, John Papale (Choate).
