Windsor (CT) used a 6-0 run in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter to hand Springfield Central (Mass.) its first loss of the year, as the Warriors began day three of the Spalding Hoophall Classic with a 61-55 win.
Windsor freshman forward Jared Wilson-Frame (15 points) dominated the early minutes of the fourth. He sank a deep three, reclaiming the lead for Windsor. He followed that on the next possession with a nice dish to Jaquan Harrison.
And after Central cut the lead to four with a Tyrell Springer finger roll, Frame converted on an old fashion 3-point play with a turnaround jumper.
Central got within in two once in the final frame, but turnovers, which plagued the Golden Eagles all day (22 turnovers) kept them from getting it any closer.
The Golden Eagles committed four turnovers in the fourth, which led to five points on the other end for Windsor.
Windsor entered the break with an eight point lead, but Central opened the third with a 10-2 run to tie the game. That run sparked Central’s best quarter of the day, outscoring Windsor 19-8 to take a 43-42 lead going into the final quarter.
Jaquan Harrison had 12 points and 4 rebounds for Windsor. Central was led by 16 points and seven rebounds from Chris Prophet, while Tyrell Springer chipped in 15.
