The Connecticut Post reported on Friday that St. Joseph's HS - Trumbull will be the new home for 6'5 junior Diamonte Zarba out of Brewster, New York.
Although head coach Vito Montelli was unaware of the transfer taking place, Athletic Director, Jim Olyaos, confirmed the transfer taking place.
Montelli was quoted as saying, "Huh. I don't know anything about that. Now you have me intrigued. I'll have to go in and check with the boss to see if it's true. I hope it is....You've got me enthused to go to work tomorrow."
According to NBE Basketball Report, Zarba has received interest from Temple, Virginia, St. Joseph's, St. John's, Quinnipiac and Providence. Zarba averaged 8.2 points per game as a sophomore at Berkshire and plays for the Nike-sponsored Gauchos AAU program in New York City.
As if they needed more firepower, the defending state champions will add Zarba to a frontline that already features 6'8 Timajh Parker-Rivera, who is generating his own recruiting interest at the Division I level and 6'7 Pat Hopkins. They also boast a dynamic scorer in 5'8 James Jennings, and 6'3 Quincey McKnight,
If there was any question previously, I think it's safe to say that this addition secures St. Joseph's as the hands-down favorite to win Class LL.
