The Brockton boys basketball team put on a rim-rocking display during warmups before yesterday's annual Super Sunday showdown at Newton North.
"One of my coaches said, ‘Thank God it's not a dunk contest. We lose that one,' " Newton North coach Paul Connolly said.
But the Tigers won the actual game in convincing fashion, 62-49, thanks in large part to a strong start and a transition defense that didn't allow Brockton - a team that routinely scores 80 points - to turn the game into a run-and-gun affair. The victory was North's first against the Boxers since 2006.
