October 6, 2010 New England Hoop News Staff

The girls Best of New England showcase took place last Friday evening at Westfield State College and saw coaches from the Division I, II and III levels in attendance. Coaches from the America East, Northeast Conference, Northeast 10, and many others were observing a wide variety of talent.
The girls took part in show and go drills, stations, and two games of 5 on 5 game play. All girls also received a profile on basketbullelite.org.
Here's who caught our eye:
Meghan Agger, 2012 - Thornton Academy (Me.) - This girl didn't stop working the entire event. She has a great basketball body, uses it well, and has a great attitude on the floor. She is a coach's dream and once her skill level improves a bit, could be a great find for a Division II or Division I school.
Radivile Autukaite - 2011 - Holderness (NH) - Good shooter and has some good size. Needs to improve ball handling skills but should get some looks at the college level.
Hannah Cain - 2011 - Gloucester HS (Ma.) - Very active on both ends. Plays hard and runs the team well. Could improve setting teammates up for shots.
Alexis Chappell - 2011 - Sabis (Ma.) - Chappell came to play. Good job knocking down the outside shot but also got to the rim and finished. Has no problem mixing it up inside as well. Needs to become a more consistent outside shooter for the college level and mentioned interest from Westfield State, Assumption, and Springfield College.
Kristina Forsman - 2011 - Newington HS (CT) - A great leader, floor general and point guard. Another player who will make a college program happy. She is coming off an ACL tear and showed no signs of being hampered by it. Plays with great energy and tenacity. Wants to play at the highest level.
Alexis Silvia - Wilbraham and Monson Academy - 2012 - Her savvy point guard play during the showcase made her stand out from the rest of the lead guards in attendance. Her ability to penetrate in to the lane and find open teammates makes her the type of player Divison 1 coaches will be keeping an eye on. Being only a sophomore she has great potential and her best days are ahead of her.
Victoria Russo - Arlington HS - 2011 - Russo stands at 6 feet tall and it is not just her size. She positions herself well for rebounds on both ends of the floor and has a few "go to" low post moves. The colleges coaches in attendance watched her closely as she dominated in the paint during game play.
Kiah Gillespie - Capital Prep - 2016 The Connecticut native proved to be the best shot blocker at the event and her inside presence offensively and defensively made her a very tough matchup for other players. Gillespie's ball handling skills were the best of any "big". She combines size, skills, and athleticism to make her a complete player. Oh yea, she's only in 7th grade.
Desiree Elmore - Capital Prep - 2015 - Another Capital Prep player that dominated with an inside - outside game that, at times, was unstoppable. Also in 8th grade, Elmore has a very bright future. Driving to the basket and finishing with contact as well pulling up for mid range jump shots made her, arguably, the most talented player at the event.
Chreese Hall - New Mission - 2014- Hall continuously beat her defender off the dribble and was able to locate her teammates inside and outside for open shots. Needs to "Bring it" every time she is on the court, but no question the potential is there.
Briyana Pabon - Pabon was one of the quickest guards on the floor and her defensive play stood out. She created havoc for opponents by pressuring the ball and getting into passing lanes which helped to produce numerous turnovers. Her quickness also allows her to get out in transition and run the floor as well as lead fastbreaks.
Caroline Hamilton - 2012 - North Dartmouth (Me.) - A girl who plays with good energy and has above average skill. Shot the ball well and looks to push and play at a high tempo.
Sarah Higgins - 2012 - Pentucket (Ma.) - Higgins has a chance to be a really good player. She has a strong body, and is not afraid to use it and mix it up. Best at getting to the rim and finishing, but can also step outside and connect. Great in the passing lanes and anticipating steals. Lower level Division I schools need to take a look.
Nicole Viselli - 2012 - Pentucket (Ma.) - Can really, really shoot....from anywhere. Can't leave her open for a second or she'll burn you. Has a solid feel for the game with really good court vision. Looks to push with pass rather than dribble. Is skilled enough to play either guard spot.
