Harvard goes to the Midwest to get player

Tommy Amaker has no problem recruiting nationally.  He has plenty of ties in the midwest from his days at Michigan and he also had to recruit across the country when he was a part of the Duke basketball staff.  According to sources, Amaker received a commitment from Jonah Travis out of a Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This is a big-time commitment for the Crimson as Travis had offers from over a dozen schools, including Northeastern, Lafayette, Miami (Oh.), Tulane and Toledo.  Travis is a 6'6 forward and will battle for playing time in an already crowded wing position, which has Laurent Rivard (6'5), Kyle Casey (6'7), Matt Brown (6'4), and others.

Holy Cross on the board again

Holy Cross reportedly picked up a commitment from Malcolm Miller, a 6'6 swingman from Gaithersburg, Maryland, according to the Sports Network.  Miller who played with the Mid-Atlantic Select AAU team from Maryland, had a great summer, and ended up choosing the Crusaders over Youngstown State and Virginia Military Institute.

Miller, who stands 6'6, averaged 9ppg, 3rpg and 3bpg last year at Gaithersburg High School.  This is the second commitment for Coach Milan Brown, since taking over the Holy Cross program.

Brewster star gives word

Durand Johnson has announced his college plans and he has decided to attend the University of Pittsburgh and play for coach Jaime Dixon.  Johnson will be attending Brewster Academy as a post-graduate this year and will be a member of the class of 2011 recruits.

Johnson played last year alongside Josh Selby (Kansas commit) at Lake Clifton School, which allowed him to develop his overall game. Meanwhile, on the AAU circuit, Johnson ran with Cecil Kirk.

He choose the Panthers over multiple Big East schools including St. John's, Seton Hall, Marquette, Louisville and Cincinnati.
